Taunton Races to host their Halloween Meeting

Taunton Racecourse get their season underway on Wednesday 31st October when they host their Halloween Meeting which promises to be a Spooktacular occasion.

In addition to the action packed racing, that gets underway at 1.50pm and boasts a very generous prize pot of almost £55k, there will be a Halloween Children’s Treasure Hunt and Face Painting to help everyone to get into the spirit of the occasion. Accompanied children under 18 get free entry and there is plenty of free parking available.

First up is the Cornish Rock Gin ‘Hands and Heels’ Handicap Hurdle Race over two miles three furlongs, which is followed at 2.20pm by the Taunton Racecourse Owners Club Maiden Hurdle race over two miles and half a furlong.

Next to post half an hour later is The Newton King Novices’ Handicap Steeple Chase which over three miles, two and a half furlongs is the longest of the day and with prize money of £10,000 on offer is likely to attract a lot of interest from local owners and trainers.

The most valuable action on the card is The Invest SouthWest ‘Confined’ Handicap Hurdle Race (Class 3) over two miles and about half a furlong at 3.20pm which has a whopping £13,800 up for grabs.

The Taunton and Somerset Samaritans 50th Anniversary Handicap Steeple Chase over two miles seven furlongs is next, before the final action of the day The Taunton Racecourse Business Club Handicap Hurdle Race over three miles  which goes to post at 4.25pm.

A courtesy coach service departs from Taunton Railway Station two hours before the off and returns from the course 30 minutes after the start of the final race.
