Taunton host Evening Racing

The National Hunt season comes to an end at Taunton Racecourse on Wednesday where they host their Evening Meeting when the first of the seven races on the card goes to post at 5.15pm

With 84 runners declared good sized fields are assured in all but one race, so there is plenty for local punters to enjoy.

All of the leading trainers are represented including Paul Nicholls, Alan King Philip Hobbs, Dan Skelton, Harry Fry, Emma Lavelle, Jeremy Scott, David Pipe and Neil Mulholland and top jockeys Nico de Boinville, Richard Johnson, Aidan Coleman, Sam Twiston- Davies, Tom Scudamore, Nick Schofield, Jamie Moore and Bryony Frost are all booked to ride.

The most valuable race on the card is The Simple Minds In Concert September 2nd Novices’ Handicap Steeple Chase over two miles two furlongs at 6.15pm, where both Spoilt Rotten trained by Fergal O’Brien and Royal Act under the champion jockey look to be keen challengers. Those looking for better value might want to take a look at lowest weight Badilou trained by Martin Hill.

In addition to the racing action there will be lots more to enjoy including a Hog Roast along with local ciders and ales.

A courtesy coach service leaves Taunton Railway Station two hours before the off and returns from the course 30 minutes after the start of the last.

Racing returns to Taunton when the 2018-19 season gets underway on Wednesday October 31st.
