Avon & Somerset Police are appealing for information following a collision on the A303 between Ilminster and South Petherton.
At about 1.40pm today (April 24th) a black BMW and a silver 4×4 collided on the eastbound carriageway.
The silver 4×4 then collided with a black Mini on the westbound carriageway.
One of the drivers has been taken to hospital by air ambulance with life-threatening injuries.
A spokesperson commented, “We’d like to speak to anyone who might have witnessed the collision or has any information relating to the lead up to it.”

Three fire engines from Ilminster, Martock and Yeovil were mobilised to the scene where crews confirmed there was one female inside one of the vehicles and got to work setting up equipment to extricate her from the vehicle. The Air ambulance landed at the incident and assisted crews with the casualty.
At 1424hrs one female was released from the vehicle using hydraulic cutting equipment. There were also 2 walking wounded who were being dealt with by paramedics.
Highways England expect the road to be closed for some time.
