Taunton’s Amazing Merry Christmas

Taunton’s Amazing Merry Christmas

Taunton is to be wowed at Christmas between 7-22 Dec at Taunton’s Creative Innovation Centre CIC (CICCIC) with 33 Events, 6000 lights, 207 Sq Metres of Christmas Scenery, Santa Grotto and visits, Free Xmas Trail for kids, music and dance events and all in aid of local charities and community groups.

This amazing set of community events supported by the Big Lottery Fund will be officially opened on 7 Dec at 10.00am by special needs children from Taunton Opportunity School.

Allison Brayshay, Manager of Taunton Opportunity School said “We provide a welcoming, safe and stimulating environment where the children and their families feel relaxed and secure, and very pleased to have CICCIC support us by providing the opportunity for some of our students to open this amazing Christmas programme”.

All events during the programme are designed to bring people together so you’ll find free movies to watch, free coffee/tea and cake for certain events and live music and disco events.

“CICCIC staff and a team of over 8 local artists and designers have made everything from scratch and you’ll find some miniature buildings that local people may recognise. Our whole hall will be decked out for Christmas at night even during the day, and almost every event is to help raise funds for Taunton Association for the Homeless and Taunton Foodbank.

Kids can also visit Santa too and events are day and night. It truly will be magical” adds CICCIC and project director Andrew Knutt.

The highlight of this 3 week programme is the Paul Street Christmas Festival on late night shopping night of the 22 Dec, which includes a laser show projected onto United Reform Church, a steel band in the street, folk/acoustic band outside the library, giant advent calendar, art and craft stalls and Christmas nibbles.
