Taunton ready for Spring races

Taunton host their Spring Race Meeting on Monday 12th March when the first of the seven races on the card which boasts prize money of almost £63k is due off at 2.10pm.

The management is once again greatly indebted to all of the sponsors for their support of racing at Taunton.

First up is The Event Care Global Ltd Selling Hurdle Race over three miles, which is followed at 2.40pm by The Court Farm Butchers Maiden Hurdle Race over two miles and half a furlong.

The Richard Williams Memorial Mares’ Handicap Hurdle Race over two miles and half a furlong is next to post with a very generous prize pot of almost £10k on offer.

The big event on the card is The South West Racing Club Handicap Steeple Chase (Class 3) over three miles and four and a half furlongs at 3.40pm, the longest of the day and has a whopping  £15,800 on offer in prizes.

The Invest South West Handicap Hurdle Race over two miles and three furlongs is next up half an hour later.

The Roy Dunn Memorial Handicap Steeple Chase, over two miles goes to post at 4.40pm, and is dedicated to the memory of one of Taunton’s long time supporters. The Roy Dunn Annual Challenge Trophy will be presented to the winning owner of this race.

The afternoon concludes with The Family Easter Raceday 26th March Mare’s Standard Open National Hunt Flat Race over two miles and half a furlong.

A courtesy coach service departs from Taunton Railway Station two hours prior to the off returning from the course 30 after the start of the last race.
