Taunton Races get underway this Thursday!

Taunton host the first of their two meetings this month on Thursday 15th November when the seven race card will boast a prize fund of more than £65,000.

First to post at 1pm is The Cornish Rock Gin Handicap Hurdle Race over about three miles, the longest of the day, which is followed half an hour later by the Taunton Racecourse Maiden Hurdle over two miles three furlongs.

The Invest SouthWest Handicap Hurdle Race over a distance of two miles and half a furlong is next off at 2pm, with a prize pot of £9.3k up for grabs.

The biggest race on the card, The Arthur and Peggy White Memorial Handicap Steeple Chase, (Class 3), over two miles and seven furlongs, is next. With a total fund of £15,800 available this race is expected to attract considerable interest.

The Thoroughbred Breeders’ Association Mares’ Handicap Hurdle Race, over two miles three furlongs goes to post at 3pm.

The second race over the jumps course, The Reliable British Scaffolding Novices’ Steeple Chase over two miles which has a very attractive prize fund of £10,800 on offer in prizes, follows next half an hour later.

The final action on the card is The 2019 Membership Available on November 29th Maiden Open National Hunt Flat Race over two miles and half a furlong which is due off at 4pm.

Racegeors are reminded that they can take advantage of up to 20% discount by buying tickets in advance on-line before 10am on the day prior to racing, by logging onto Taunton Racecourse website

A courtesy coach service departs from Taunton Railway Station two hours before the off and returns from the course 30 minutes after the start of the final race.
