The medium cider won one of the highest accolades in the competition – the Trophy Award. The dry cider won a silver award and the vintage cider won gold! Taunton Cider Company also received a Bronze award for their packaging.

Jonathan Dunne of The Taunton Cider Company was delighted with the win: “We have worked hard to re-establish the Taunton Cider Co. Working with the best Apple Growers and our Cider Makers, building our brand whilst being respectful of the history and heritage and importance of Taunton Cider in Somerset.”

Last Thursday, Taunton Cider held a party where they celebrated with those who have supported them; Rebecca Pow MP, Catherine Herbert Mayor of Taunton Deane, local publicans and businesses. Rebecca Pow was very positive about Taunton cider and recalls, “The name Taunton Cider is synonymous with Taunton and the brand name has been recognised right across my constituency of Taunton Deane and the wider Somerset region for as long as I can remember. I am delighted that the name is back and that the new Taunton Cider Company is being acknowledged both nationally and internationally for its new and innovative products. A fantastic achievement in such a short space of time. Well done to all”

Taunton Cider have just launched a new cider to sit alongside their existing portfolio – Longaller Mill Reserve. This cider comes with its own story which dates back to 1992 and to the Taunton Cider Company of yesteryear. It is a fascinating tale of the best things coming to those who wait. Be quick though, Longaller Mill Reserve will be first come first served, it’s from a small biannual orchard so there is only a limited amount.

The Mayor of Taunton Deane Catherine Hubert commented “It’s imperative that our local orchards are supported and its brilliant that The Taunton Cider Company are determined to do this as opposed to going abroad for their apples.”

Jonathan also added “2018 is going to be an action-packed year – The Taunton Cider Company are launching a Rugby 10’s competition associated with Taunton Rugby Football Club on 4th August and the Taunton Cider Company – Skittles World Cup which is open for registrations now with the competition starting in the Autumn.
