Races get ready for next meet

Taunton are racing next on Thursday November 16th when the first race of the seven races on the card that has a very generous prize fund of £55k on offer goes to post at 1.05pm.

Each of the races is sponsored by members of the  local business community and the management at Taunton is hugely grateful for this continued support.

The card features two Class 3 steeple-chases, both carrying a prize pot of £12k, which are expected to attract a lot of interest.

First up is the Reliable British Scaffolding Maiden Hurdle Race over two miles three furlongs that goes to post at 1.05pm.

This is followed half an hour later by the Forrester Garden Buildings Handicap Hurdle over three miles, which is the longest of the day.

Next to post is the Invest Southwest Handicap Hurdle Race over two miles and half a furlong.

The first race over the National Hunt course is at 2.35 pm when the Falcon Vehicle Solutions Novices (for the Arthur and Peggy White Memorial Trophy) runs over two miles and about seven furlongs, which is worth £7596 to the winning owner.

The Mollie Cochrane Charity TBA Mares’ Handicap Hurdle Race over two miles and three furlongs is due off 30 minutes later.

The second of the chases, The Setsquare Recruitment Handicap Steeple Chase (Class 3) and with a total of £12k up for grabs runs at 3.35pm, this time over a slightly shorter trip of two miles and about five and a half furlongs.

The afternoon’s action concludes at 4.05pm with the ROA/Racing Post Owners Jackpot Maiden Open National Hunt Flat Race over  two miles and about half a furlong.

Local racegoers are reminded that they can take advantage of up to 20% discount by purchasing tickets in advance on-line before 10am on the day prior to racing, by logging onto www.tauntonracecourse.co.uk

A courtesy coach departs from Taunton Railway Station two hours before the start and returns from the course 30 minutes after the start of the final race.
