Pirates and princesses in Wellington Park

AS the summer holidays draw to a close the Wellington One Team is thrilled to report record-breaking attendance at all of the weekly summer holiday events.

The “Wacky Wednesdays” were themed and held in different locations around the town, enabling as many families as possible to attend.

This year’s finale was held in Wellington Park where more than 200 attendees enjoyed a “Pirates and Princesses” themed picnic, free refreshments, a variety of arts and crafts events, and a treasure trail around the park.

The event organisers were delighted so many had joined in the fun and the effort and enthusiasm put into their fancy dress costumes.

The largely free events are all funded, organised and staffed by a group of front line agencies who work closely together throughout the year to promote and organise community events in and around wellington.

Representatives from Wellington get-set team, Taunton Deane Borough Council, Knightstone Housing, Tone Leisure, Churches Together and a host of volunteers all work extremely hard to ensure the success of these events.

Over the course of 2016 year the team have entertained more than 1,000 children and families in Wellington, and are already busy planning new events for the autumn holidays and summer 2017.
