Petition started for skate park in Cotford St Luke

A mother from Cotford St Luke has started a petition to build a skate park for the children in the village.

Resident Caroline Ashworth came up with the idea after her son, Alfie, aged 8yrs old, recently came home from the local park with his hand cut open from shattered glass.

She commented “I was gutted to see how bad the park had got. Broken glass, all bins overflowing with rubbish, poo bags, fencing, signs, glass and more and in desperate need of emptying. Rubbish all over the field and playing area. The place was unsafe for children, animals and adults and looked a disgrace. This made me want to improve the park for all of the community in the village”

Mrs Ashworth went on to add, “We want to create a top quality concrete skate-park in ‘Cotford St Luke’ in order to provide a safe, family orientated and all inclusive free-to-use sports facility for our community’, also we would love more play equipment such as a zip wire.”

The overall aim is to significantly increase sports participation, promote a healthy and active lifestyle &  increase social integration / cohesion.

Richard Perry & Olly Green, sponsored BMX riders from the area are backing the idea and supporting Mrs Ashworth.
