One person dead and ten injured on M5

The M5 remains closed for on going investigation work in both directions between J25 and J26, Taunton to Wellington.

Sadly one person has died at the scene just after 6am this morning, Fri 9th Feb.

Several vehicles were involved and both sides of the carriageway were affected.

About 15 paramedic crews were deployed by South Western Ambulance Service “including ambulances, rapid response vehicles and two air ambulances”.

A spokesperson commented, “We treated 10 patients in total with eight being taken in to hospital,” the service added.

“Six patients were taken to Musgrove Park Hospital in Taunton by road ambulance and two were taken to Southmead Hospital in Bristol by air ambulance.”

Police and Highways expect the motorway will remain closed for considerable time and advise your journey be delayed where possible.
