Musgrove Park Hospital has been rated one of the UK’s top five hospitals when it comes to patient experience of its care.
This is according to leading healthcare intelligence organisation CHKS, which has shortlisted Musgrove Park for a national Top Hospitals award.
The CHKS Top Hospitals awards celebrate excellence throughout the UK and are given to district general hospitals for their achievements in healthcare quality and improvement. Musgrove Park has been shortlisted in the patient experience category, which looks at what patients think of their experience when they visit a hospital.
It is based on a range of ways patients have given feedback on their experience, including surveys, Friends and Family Test scores and annual patient-led assessments of the care environment.
Latest figures show that in April this year 97 per cent of almost 1,500 patients on Musgrove Park’s wards, outpatient and day case areas said they would recommend the hospital to their friends and family.

We aim to treat everyone with dignity, kindness and respect and we are always open to learning from what they tell us about our services.”
There are a number of ways that patients can give feedback on their care and treatment at Musgrove Park, including filling in a Friends and Family test available from the ward sister or lead nurse, logging onto Care Opinion, or through the Musgrove Facebook or Twitter pages.
CHKS said it used over 28 years of experience in the analysis of hospital data to decide the indicators on which each of the Top Hospitals programme awards are judged. The data comes from the information that is regularly submitted by hospitals to NHS Digital, which uses technology to transform health and social care.
