A man in his 20’s has been released under investigation after an incident which saw armed police respond to an incident in Taunton Town centre on Saturday night.
The incident happend in KFC based in East Street, Taunton just before 11pm on 13th April. The man was detained following an attempted robbery.
Staff called the police after he was making threats and demanding cash. The staff refused his demands and he locked himself in the toilets.
The restaurant was evacuated and police officers negotiated with the man to come out, once detained he was also taken to hospital.
A spokesperson commented; ” Armed officers attended as a precaution and to provide community reassurance. The man has been released on bail pending further enquiries and is due to answer bail at May 9th. Thankfully no one was injured during the incident.”
