Somerset County Council are warning drivers that major resurfacing is planned on the B3170 at Corfe starting next week.
Honiton Road at Corfe Hill needs repairing and will be resurfaced as part of the Council’s structural maintenance programme.
Preparatory work starts on Monday 29 July ready for resurfacing to begin on 5 August. For this week of prep work the road will be shut for 24 hours a day, 5 days a week due to deep excavations in the highway.
Once resurfacing begins on 5 August, work will be carried out between 7.30am and 5.30pm each day, with a road closure required during these hours to keep the workforce and road users safe. There will be a signed diversion route in place via Blackdown Hill, Blagdon Hill and Taunton.
The majority of roadworks are south of the Pickeridge Golf Course junction, so access to the Golf Course will be maintained from the Taunton direction. However, on Monday 5 August access to the Golf Course will be from the direction of Blackdown Hill instead.
Councillor John Woodman, Somerset County Council’s Cabinet Member for Highways, said: “I’m very pleased we have been able to plan an extensive resurfacing scheme – we’re not just filling the potholes, we are removing and replacing the top layer of the road to provide long lasting improvements.
“Please take note of the closure dates and times and plan your journey carefully.”
