Four very determined ladies from Taunton are going to be walking 100 miles from North Petherton to Poole later this year as they raise funds for charity.
Their goal is to raise as much money as possible for Cancer Research UK and Macmillan Cancer Support in order to help find a cure and take great care of those who are suffering.
Each of the ladies, Sarah Walker, Denise Munt, Emma Irving-Jones and Tracey Arnold has been or has close connections to someone affected by cancer. Denise is currently in remission from breast cancer, so this is something very close to their hearts.
In the build up to the walk the group are holding several fundraising events to try and reach, and hopefully surpass their team target of £4,000.
Their first fundraiser took place in September of last year and although the weather wasn’t kind they still managed to raise a fantastic £400. Other fund raising includes a car boot sale raising £40 and a garden sale raising £130. With sponsorship added they are already a quarter of the way to the £4000 target.
Emma commented “We have been blown away by the wonderful amount of support we have received so far from friends, family and local businesses and feel confident we will reach our target and can help make a difference.”
The team will be holding more and more fundraising events & the next big event they have planned is an 80’s fancy dress disco which will be at the Square and Compass in Ashill on Friday 28th April, and tickets are on sale now for £10 each.
