Taunton racegoers can gallop into the New Year at the Orchard Portman course when they host the Love Musgrove Raceday on Tuesday January 9th which carries a handsome prize fund of nearly £63k and the first of the seven races goes to post at 12.35.

The action begins with The Love Musgrove Mares’ Handicap Hurdle Race over two miles and half a furlong which is followed at 1.05pm by The Love Musgrove Maiden Hurdle Race, over three miles, which is the longest of the day.

The Musgrove Staff Novices’ Hurdle Race over two miles and three furlongs is next to post at 1.35pm.

The big race on the card that day is The Hawksmoor Investment Handicap Steeple Chase, a Class 3 event over two miles seven furlongs, with a very generous prize pot of £15,800 which is due off at 2.10pm.

This is followed 35 minutes later by The Greenslade Taylor Hunt Handicap Hurdle, also a Class 3 event, over two miles three furlongs which has prize money of £13,800 up for grabs.

The penultimate race on the card at 3.20pm is the Geoffrey Bosley ‘Tally Ho’ Open Hunters’ Steeple Chase over two miles seven furlongs, which is likely attract a lot of interest from the local point to point fraternity.

The action concludes with The Simple Minds In Concert 2nd September Standard Open National Hunt Flat Race over two miles and half a furlong at 3.50pm.

There will be an exit collection on behalf of the Love Musgrove appeal at the end of the day.
