Half Term at The Museum of Somerset

Half Term at The Museum of Somerset

There’s plenty on offer for families at The Museum of Somerset during February half term including the popular Castle Day.

Inspired by Taunton’s 12th century castle, the museum is holding a day of activities on Sunday 11 February. Young visitors can attend Knight School and learn how to become a brave and noble knight. Taunton Garrison will be doing historical re-enactments based on the English Civil War and there will also be crafts and other activities to enjoy. The day runs from 10.00 am to 5.00 pm and costs £3 per person (age 3+) or £10 for a family.

Throughout the week from Monday 12 to Friday 16 February there will be children’s activities inspired by the colourful art of Hans Schwarz, now on display at the museum. The ‘Colourful Portraits’ activity runs from 10.30 am to 1.00 pm and from 2.00 pm to 3.30 pm and costs £1 per child (ages 3–11.) A ‘Colour Trail’ around the museum, costing £1, will also be available from 10 to 17 February.

Susie Simmons Visitor Services Manager said: “Castle Day is a chance to bring to life some of the stories of Taunton Castle. Hundreds of visitors attend this popular event and we’re looking forward to another great day as well as to welcoming visitors throughout the week.”
