Groups urged to volunteer their opinions

Voluntary organisations across Somerset are being urged to share their views in a “health check” of the county’s voluntary sector

The ‘state of the sector’ survey aims to identify the issues and opportunities for voluntary groups and organisations. It will be used to help produce the first comprehensive report on the county’s voluntary sector called ‘Share, Celebrate, Grow.’

The report will also celebrate of the amazing breadth and diversity of voluntary work in Somerset and identify areas for development.

Anyone who works for or represents a voluntary group or organisation, no matter how small, can contribute by completing an online form www.surveymonkey.co.uk/r/V75ZTBN

The deadline responses is 5pm on Friday, 10 October. If you have any questions about the survey, email Katherine.nolan@sparksomerset.org.uk or phone 01935 475914.

Councillor John Osman, Leader of the Council and Cabinet member for Customers and Communities, said: “Voluntary groups and organisations contribute a huge amount to the county and its residents and I’d encourage anyone with a role in one of these groups to share their views.

“And as public sector budgets come under more and more pressure it’s vitally important that we have a vibrant voluntary sector that local authorities and others can work with to help communities play an even greater role in supporting residents.”
