Somerfest 2018 will be action packed this Saturday as Taunton’s leading festival of performance, arts, sport, circus, dance, music and theatre takes to the Street’s and open spaces.
The annual event runs tomorrow, Saturday 16th June starting at 11am till 6pm, it an opportunity to enjoy the fabulous free programme of shows throughout the town and walkabout street theatre performances.
Goodlands Gardens Green will be full to the brim with music, stalls, green crafts, environment and nature areas, family and children’s activities. Enjoy the sounds and styles from Folk to Urban Bhangra there will be something for everyone to get you into the Festival Feel! There is a pop up Talking Tent hosting the Somerslam, festival green crafts and the recycled environment workshops sponsored by Viridor.
At Castle Green you can enjoy the interactive show Bingo Lingo, performances by the Strong Lady and Lords of Strutt. On the green you can take part and enjoy Spectacular shows, Street Theatre, Dance, Circus Workshops, Better Sports Activities, Traditional Merry-go-round, Inflatable fun and great festival food is available throughout the day.
High St Festival Information will be at the Visitors Information Centre. Follow the fish and flowers made by local children celebrating the river and green spaces in Taunton. Street theatre, music and markets will be in full swing throughout the town.
In the Museum Grounds: (behind the Museum) Try out Taekwondo, demonstrations and board breaking. In the Museum courtyard take part in arts and crafts family workshops and enjoy the café and museum exhibition.
Taunton Adventurous Sports & Canoe Club will be on the river by the Brewhouse pontoon and you can take part in free river activities using sit on top kayaks and katakaunus.
