Drivers are being advised of upcoming overnight closures as a major scheme to build a new roundabout on the A358 at Bishops Lydeard nears completion.
The roundabout is being delivered by contractor SWH Civils on behalf of Taylor Wimpey as part of a legal agreement linked to the construction of new homes in the village.
A road closure is required overnight (7pm to 7am) on Wednesday 12 April to complete the construction of the Station Road approach to the roundabout. A five night road closure of the A358 will begin on Monday 15 May (7pm to 7am) for the final road surfacing to be completed. The scheme should then be complete by the end of May.
Over Easter, traffic management in the form of three-way temporary traffic lights will be in place. The contractor will ensure that the green phases are longer to minimise delay. Additionally, the new underpass will be opened over the bank holiday weekend to allow pedestrians safe passage across the busy A358. The underpass is expected to be fully completed by early May.
