Taunton School’s Director of Hockey, Elliot Foweraker, has been selected to be a coach for England Hockey’s Diploma in Sports Excellence programme.
Elliot will carry out the elite mentoring alongside his role at Taunton School.
The Diploma in Sporting Excellence (DiSE) programme is a government funded scheme designed to directly measure athletes’ ability to plan, apply and evaluate their development in the appropriate aspects of hockey. The programme includes modules such as strength and conditioning, psychology, nutrition and wellbeing.
Elliot has also recently completed the Top Coaches Programme, a two year course with the European Hockey Federation and was graded Excellent.
Whilst on the course Elliot completed his FIH Level 3 course as well as a High Performance Indoor Coaching course.
Elliot, who has been Director of Hockey at Taunton School since 2015, commented: “I’m really looking forward to starting this new role with England Hockey. It will be a great opportunity to improve my coaching and I owe a lot of thanks to the School for the continued support in my development. I hope that I can share my experience with players at the school to continue improving the provision, as well as share with local coaches and clubs in the area.”
Hockey is one of the major sports at Taunton School and is played by both boys and girls, indoor and outdoor, from ages 7 to 18. We have had lots of success over recent years:
