A BIT OF A MOAN AND A PLEA FOR HELP!!
I love where we live!! We are so lucky to have this on our doorstep. Here comes the moan or rather plea! Every day this week there have been kids playing here and a few times over the weekend I was behaving like a big kid and joining in, jumping off the bridge and swimming in the river -which is brilliant fun and awesome that we have this where we live!!
Sadly I’ve also walked our dog here each evening and taken a bin bag and rubber gloves to clear up the colossal amount of rubbish left behind by the kids!! I don’t mind doing it as I want to keep this, our own environment, clean and healthy and as beautiful as it is. I’ve spoken to the kids regularly and advised them to keep it clean and watch the language then no one has cause to complain and they can continue to play here. Unfortunately people are complaining because they aren’t taking it on board, day after day, the rubbish mounts up and the kids are swearing more than is acceptable when there are families and elderly people walking by not to mention the people living in the flats opposite. It blows my mind to think that this generation of kids can be so ambivalent about littering and swearing-we ALL swore as kids but only when we were fairly sure no grown ups could hear!! The littering though …….Seriously?? Why is it not being drummed into them at school and at home that this just isn’t cool!! I’m begging all the parents and all the teachers-please please insist that your kids dispose of their rubbish properly!! Why don’t they care about looking after their town??
Is this just me getting old? I see the few people that clean up the river banks all the time, I have the utmost respect for them and the time they invest in it.
Would anyone be interested in a clean up party on the river from French Wier to Bathpool if I tried to arrange it?
