OLD CLEEVE OPEN GARDENS – WITH SCARECROWS
BANK HOLIDAY MONDAY – 28 MAY 2018
Every year Old Cleeve turns into a scarecrow village as part of its popular open gardens event – much to everyone’s delight. The main attraction of course is the gardens – 8 in all will be open this Bank Holiday Monday 28th May – but visitors enjoy spotting the scarecrows as they walk round this pretty village.
Organiser Judi Stabb said, “There is something to interest everyone, including a Mediterranean style garden, traditional cottage styles, and a walled garden. Our annual scarecrow display adds some fun, and children can bring their teddies to parachute from the Church Tower, which is always exciting.
“There are delicious homemade refreshments to enjoy, and preserves, plant and book stalls to browse. For the first time this year we have a number of craft stalls as well. We hope to encourage visitors to spend the day with us.”
As well as the gardens, community orchard and beautiful ancient Church, visitors can view the refurbished Lysaght Club and its magnificent 1920’s snooker room, which is unique in the district.
The gardens are open from 11am to 5pm on Bank Holiday Monday and entry costs £5. Accompanied children free. All monies raised go to St Andrew’s Church.
