Garden Open for Medecins sans Frontiers
28 August 2017 - 2:00 pm - 5:00 pm| £4
Garden open to raise funds for this popular charity.
Set in a woodland glade on slightly acid soil a two acre garden created over the last twenty years. The garden at Hartwood House keeps on growing in size, and range of trees, shrubs and perennials. Two enthusiastic gardeners have managed to compromise their ideas to create a garden that is a delight for the plantsman who will spot many unusual shrubs and trees (him) and pleasing to the casual visitor who can enjoy the colours and contrasts of foliage and flowers (her). The two acres are closely cultivated and lie within a sheltered glade surrounded by huge oak and beech trees. A vegetable garden again is fully planted. Beyond a decorative gate an old cider orchard is being replanted with indigenous trees and can be explored along cut grass paths. The senses of sight, scent and touch are all experienced in this garden, and a variety of additions will keep children entertained whilst not offending the serious garden lover.
Dogs on leads welcome.
