eat:Taunton, the free to attend locally focused food and drink festival will return to Taunton this May to coincide with Somerset Day, on Saturday 12 May
The team have been working hard with council officers to create a safe, welcoming day long festival in the very heart of the town’s conservation area.
You can expect to find over 70 of the regions best food and drink producers with farmers’ market favourites like cheese, ale and pies alongside a great range of products like gluten free bakes, spices, sauces, prime meat and cocktail bars. Visitors are invited to picnic in the church grounds with music all day on the Porter Dodson Stage and sample the wide range of premium street food. There will also be the free Hawksmoor Cookery School and The Retreat Demo Stage, giving you chances to hands on and learn from local cooks & chefs with practical family focused cookery. Plus livestock, tractors and buskers.
The festival will open at 10am on Hammet Street and at St Mary Magdalene Church and trade through to 4pm
We caught up with organiser Bev & Sarah Milner Simonds
“we are thrilled to back in Taunton and it is shaping up to be another great celebration of local food and drink on Somerset Day. Our producers gave us great feedback after last years festival and we have further expanded the range and choice as we have moved location. We hope that visitors will enjoy the free cookery school and demos on the stage – both aimed at encouraging families to cook together.”
