Consone Quartet Concert at CICCIC
31 October 2019 - 7:30 pm - 10:00 pm| £15
The list of awards and achievements reaped by the Consone Quartet since its formation at the Royal College of Music is no less remarkable than the individual honours achieved by the group’s own four founding members – Agata Daraskaite, Magdalena Loth-Hill, Elitsa Bogdanova and George Ross.
Concerts in the West is therefore delighted to be showcasing this quartet of high flying musicians at CICCIC Taunton on 31 October 2019.
Recently selected as BBC New Generation Artists, the Consone Quartet enjoys exploring Classical and Early Romantic repertoire on period instruments. Their list of wins/awards/prizes includes the 2016 Royal Over-Seas League Ensemble Prize in London, plus two prizes at the 2015 York Early Music International Young Artists Competition, including a place on the ‘EEEmerging’ Emerging European Ensembles Scheme associated with the Ambronay Festival in France and six other early music festivals across Europe.
The quartet recently made an acclaimed debut at London’s Wigmore Hall, as well as performances at King’s Place, St Martin-in-the-Fields, Cheltenham, Lammermuir, Buxton and King’s Lynn Festivals.
The Consone Quartet is rapidly gaining international recognition performing in France, Germany, Austria, Bulgaria, Slovenia, the Czech Republic, Belgium (AMUZ in Antwerp), Italy, Switzerland and in spring 2018 they toured in South America performing across Bolivia and Peru.
The quartet’s debut CD, featuring music by Haydn and Mendelssohn, was released on the Ambronay Label in October 2018 and has received a number of glowing reviews.
Catherine Maddocks, founder and director of Concerts in the West, said:
“In 2015 the Consone Quartet delighted audiences in the West Country with their interpretation of Classical and Early Romantic repertoire on period instruments. This prize winning group of young and exceptionally talented musicians is rapidly gaining international recognition, performing all over Europe and recently in Bolivia and Peru. The Quartet recently released their debut CD, featuring Haydn and Mendelssohn.”
