Barrington Village Fete
25 August 2018 - 2:00 pm - 5:00 pm| £1 – £39
This year’s biennial summer fete will take place in the lovely village of Barrington, home to the National Trust’s mediaeval Barrington Court. Set in an idyllic part of the Somerset countryside overlooking the Levels, jam packed with fantastic games and activities, it’s a fun afternoon out for the whole family. The fete will have all the classic ingredients with entertainment this year provided by the ever- popular Phoenix Brass Band, finishing-off the afternoon with a spot of Maypole dancing and the GRAND raffle. The afternoon includes a ‘fun dog show’, a children’s arena with lots of activities and games, including Malcom the Magician. With an amazing array of activities and stalls, there will still be plenty of time to visit the BBQ, PIMMS bar and beer tent, then try your hand at skittles, the coconut shy, beat the goalie and don’t forget the chuck a wellie competition. This year sees a dedicated ‘market-place’ populated by many of our local producers from deli items to honey and eggs, home-made chocolate to organic poultry and plants/fresh flowers and more. If you are not done yet, pop up to the main hall for a home-made cream tea before you pay a visit to our local artist and the Mystic Mariner next to the book and bric-a-brac stalls. Keen gardeners and those with a ‘sweet tooth’ can visit the plant stall and home-made cake stall then straight over to pick up an ice cream.
