Taunton racecourse will be hosting the ‘Bathwick Tyres Evening Meeting with “Tommo” on Thursday April 20th when the first of the six races on the card, which has a very generous prize pot of £48k available, is due off at 5.25pm.
Over the years Taunton’s Evening Meeting has proved to be very popular and Derek Thompson, known to many as ‘Tommo’ the voice and face of racing on television, will be in attendance to add to the entertainment.
The management are once again grateful to Bathwick Tyres for there continued sponsorship at Taunton and their support to racing across the south west.
First up is the C&S Electrical Wholesale Ltd Mares’ Novices’ Hurdle race over two miles and half a furlong, which is followed at 6pm by the Bathwick Tyres Bath Novices’ Hurdle over two miles three.
The first of the two £10,000 races follows half an hour later when the Bathwick Tyres Bridgwater Novices’ Steeple Chase over two miles two furlongs goes to post.
The longest race of the evening follows next when the Bathwick Tyres Midsomer Norton Mares’ Handicap Hurdle over three miles is due off at 7pm.
The Bathwick Tyres Handicap Steeple Chase over two miles and seven furlongs, which also offers a prize fund of £10k is next, before the evening closes with the Bathwick Tyres Taunton Handicap hurdle over two miles and half a furlong at 8pm.

A courtesy coach service departs from Taunton Railway Station two hours before racing begins and returns from the course 30 minutes after the start of the last race.
