Taunton Races to end season with Ladies Day

Taunton Racecourse end the season in style when they host their ever popular Ladies Day Meeting on Thursday 27th April with a seven race card that boasts a massive £53k in prizes and starts at 1.50 pm.

The management at Taunton are very grateful to Taunton based travel agent Dave Criddle who has donated a weekend for two in Rome for the winner of the Best Dressed Lady and local bookmaker Jack Bevan has generously given £500 for the winner of the Best Ladies Hat competition.

The action on the course gets started with a Handicap Hurdle over three miles which is followed at 2.20 by a Maiden Hurdle race over two miles and half a furlong.

Next up is another Handicap Hurdle also over two miles and half a furlong which is followed at 3.25pm by the Dave Criddle Travel Handicap Hurdle race, the first of the two Class 3 events which has a prize pot of £10,000 and runs over two miles and three furlongs.

The most valuable race on the card is the Jack Bevan Bookmakers Handicap Steeple Chase at 4pm another Class 3, which has £13k on offer in prizes and over three miles and four and a half furlongs is the longest of the day.

The Somerset County Sports James Hildreth Testimonial Handicap Steeple Chase over two miles is the penultimate race on the card before the action concludes with a Mares’ Standard Open National Hunt Flat Race at 5.05pm.
